Spa Pump
If a consumer's spa pump fails while the hot tub is still
under warranty, the pump can be replaced for free. However, if it fails
after the warranty has expired the consumer needs to pay for the replacement.
He can hire a professional to do the work or do the replacement himself
if he is a confident do-it-yourselfer.
Consumers will know that the hot tub spa pump has failed if the motor
malfunctions and does not turn. A humming noise may accompany this symptom.
If bearings are worn out a whining noise could be produced. Also, leaks
around the pump may suggest the seals need to be replaced.
While individual pump components can be replaced, it is often less
expensive in the long run to replace the entire spa pump. Replacing
the entire pump is actually easier and provides greater reliability
over time. Some companies actually charge less to replace an entire
pump than to replace several pieces over time.
